 1.

Exercise

8 popular & 250,722 total

The majority of hits in this search appear to be very informative about the subject that I was searching for. The are 8 Popular sites that are very helpful.

 2.

Exercise; fitness; sports

59,185 sites total

The majority of hits in this search were from the previous search, but this one excluded sites that had the words "fitness" and "sports" in them. The sites that are displayed through this search tell more about places, schools, and curriculum for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

 3.

Exercise; fitness; sports; women

1 popular & 55,625 total

This search limited the previous searches some more. This time they excluded the sites that did not have women in them. The sites were identical to the previous search, but with only the sites that included women.

4.

Exercise; fitness; sports; women; physical activity; health

1,188 sites total

This search excluded the sites from the previous search that did not have physical activity and health mentioned in them. Again they had a lot of sites with curriculums and health centers, but not a lot of information that I want.

5.

Exercise; fitness; sports; kids; physical activity; health; nutrition; wellness

154 sites total

This search did not help me at all because most of these mention curriculums that I can buy, classes that I can take to learn how to teach, and who to contact if I have any questions.

PARAGRAPH

In using different search engines, I have found that searching with the keyword search is easier than searching with the concept-based (subject) search. This is because when the search engine is searching for different hits based on the words or phrases you typed into the location, it tries to determine what you mean, not what you say. Therefore making it hard to find hits that include certain aspects of the subject, not just the subject itself. When searching with the keyword search, the search engine found sites that included those key words. If you knew what you were looking for in the hit, you would not have a problem finding key concepts or words in certain hits. The only downfall to the keyword search is that there are a lot of hits that include certain words in the text, making your search a more lengthy process. Including more than one keyword in the keyword search allowed the search engine to decrease the amount of hits found. This made it easier for me to look through all of the hits and find which one best informed me of my subject. The meta search engine was the best search engine for me to use. This search engine finds key concepts in different engines as well as its own. Therefore, giving me all the hits on the terms that I want throughout the web. The best hit that I found was searched by the Dogpile meta search engine. I found it using the terms "exercise fitness." There were 5 categories that came up under these terms, so I chose the category "Exercise & Fitness." Under this category were the top 10 most visited sites for exercise fitness. I chose the site named "The Fitness Files: Healthy and Wise." This is a very good site when you are looking for information about fitness and exercise. This site has 4 icons that take you to different links. The 4 icons were; Be Active, The Injurenet, Fitness Fundamentals, and Fuel for Fitness. This site has the most basic and in-depth information about fitness and exercise in general. It is very easy to follow, the graphics are colorful and lively, the links go to the different sites very quickly and efficiently, and the information can be used and understood at all ages. Having search engines to find specific hits for you is so much easier and faster than if you were trying to find certain information on your own. Being a future teacher, I know I will be using searches quite often in helping me find different curriculum ideas, activities, and information. Thanks to the search engines I will be able to find all of these things very quickly and efficiently.
